Role Overview

As the Network Architect/Engineer, you’ll take ownership of WAN design, optimization, and traffic flow management across global networks. This includes ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met and managing priorities such as Quality of Service (QoS), latency optimization, and WAN traffic analytics. Your expertise will directly improve network performance, reliability, and security.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and optimize WAN infrastructures including SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, and network security (firewalls and ACLs).
• Manage WAN traffic routing, QoS, and latency optimization across global circuits and data flows.
• Analyze and troubleshoot network issues, diving into data metrics, graphs, and packet-level diagnostics.
• Collaborate with telco providers for WAN circuit testing, turnup, and diverse path provisioning.
• Maintain network configurations, performance monitoring tools, and backup systems for WAN edge devices.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure network uptime, while minimizing escalations.
• Work cross-functionally with IT, operations, and engineering teams to implement solutions and drive operational efficiency.
• Proactively research and adopt new networking technologies, tools, and processes.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in WAN engineering, traffic routing, and network security.
• Proven experience designing and supporting WAN architectures, including MPLS, VPNs, and SD-WAN (Cato experience is a plus).
• Expertise in Cisco technologies, including Nexus, Catalyst, and familiarity with firewalls (Checkpoint or similar).
• Hands-on experience with WAN troubleshooting, packet analysis, and data-driven optimization.
• Strong understanding of SLAs, QoS, and WAN traffic prioritization principles.
• Technical proficiency with automation tools like Python, NetBox, or Ansible (a plus).
• Collaborative, proactive mindset with a hunger for problem-solving and learning new technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced certifications such as CCNP or CCIE are preferred.

Work Environment

• Remote role – Preferred working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Central Time.
