Tooling Maintenance Specialist

A well-established manufacturer specializing in plastic packaging solutions is seeking an experienced Tooling Maintenance Specialist to join the team. This role is critical in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing injection molds to support efficient and high-quality production operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tooling maintenance and a keen eye for precision in mold adjustments and repairs.

Focus:

Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on injection molds.

Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble complex tooling components.

Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) to maximize mold longevity.

Troubleshoot and support repairs of hot runner systems.

Perform cavity inspections, part containment repairs, and mold adjustments as needed.

Install and remove injection molds from machines safely and efficiently.

Provide technical assistance for tooling-related production challenges.

Maintain accurate records of mold maintenance and spare tooling inventory.

Ensure molds consistently adhere to production and quality standards.

Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and OSHA safety regulations.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Skill Set:

2+ years of experience in tooling maintenance, mold troubleshooting, and repairs.

Familiarity with hot runner systems, precision components, and injection molding processes preferred.

Experience operating lathes, mills, surface grinders, and precision measuring tools.

Knowledge of ISO/SQF food safety systems is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and technical drawings.

Basic metal fabrication, welding, and machining knowledge.

Experience with rigging techniques for handling large mold components safely.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
