We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to lead the development of firmware and software for an innovative high-resolution custom printer. What You’ll Be Doing:
Software & Firmware Development: Enhance existing software to drive a single-color HP 45 printhead with stepper motor integration for ball rotation.
Embedded Systems Engineering: Implement motor control, micro stepping, and printhead drivers using Python, C++, and Arduino-based environments.
Product Evolution: Develop new features for future models, including a 48-ball batch printer and multicolor printing systems.
System Integration: Ensure seamless communication between hardware components, including stepper motors and PC interfaces.
Testing & Troubleshooting: Debug and refine firmware and software for optimal performance and reliability.
Documentation & Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to define system functionality and maintain technical documentation.
What You Bring to the Table:
✔ Printer Software Expertise: Experience working with HP, Epson, or similar printheads (HP 45 experience preferred).
✔ Embedded Programming Skills: Strong knowledge of Python, C++, PyQT5, Arduino IDE, and Teensy microcontrollers.
✔ Full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): From requirement gathering to deployment and ongoing optimization.
✔ Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to troubleshoot complex firmware/software issues and optimize system performance.
✔ Hardware Integration Knowledge: Understanding of motion control, stepper motors, and printer drivers.
✔ Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience with kiosk-based printing or commercial-scale printing solutions.
Familiarity with cloud-based or IoT-driven printing technologies.
How You’ll Fit In:
This is a contract-first role, with the potential to transition into a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
Compensation will be based on experience, contract type, and investor discussions.
The role is fully remote, but candidates in Eastern or Central time zones are preferred for better collaboration.
