About the Role
As a Service Technician specializing in custom Air Handling Units (AHUs), you will serve as the face of technical excellence in the field. This position is fully remote with nationwide travel and is ideal for a self-sufficient technician who thrives in a customer-facing environment. You’ll support start-ups, troubleshoot systems, and assist clients with post-installation services—all while upholding best practices in quality, safety, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and assist with site activities including AHU rigging oversight, placement validation, and mechanical systems verification.
• Support on-site knockdown reassembly for AHUs shipped in modular sections.
• Lead or support unit pressure/leakage testing to meet performance standards.
• Execute system start-ups, validate components (e.g., fans, coils, VFDs, actuators, sensors), and verify airflow and motor function.
• Interface with Building Management Systems (BMS) using BACnet, Modbus, and similar protocols.
• Troubleshoot and correct issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Conduct or assist with warranty repairs and prepare root cause analysis reports.
• Provide comprehensive owner training and system documentation at handover.
• Complete all required field reports, test logs, service records, and punch lists.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of field experience in HVAC service or commissioning, particularly involving custom or large-scale mechanical systems.
• Proven skills in startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of components including VFDs, sensors, and actuators.
• Comfortable interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings and installation manuals.
• Previous supervisory or field leadership roles are advantageous.
• Familiarity with BMS integration and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
Requirements
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification is preferred.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Open to 100% travel across the U.S. and Canada.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical environments.
Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive pay structure with per diem (aligned with GSA M&IE guidelines).
• Company-covered travel including airfare, hotel, and ground transportation.
• Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
