Senior Director of Innovation

Our client is a large-scale manufacturing company that works with Fortune 500 companies and household brands to develop winning products. They’re seeking a visionary Senior Director of Innovation.

The Senior Director of Innovation leads a dynamic technical team dedicated to expanding the application of confectionary-based forms in the Over the Counter (OTC) space. This role drives innovation to achieve competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market landscape.

Focus:

• Collaborate closely with the Commercial team to define the strategic roadmap and pipeline for delivering a high-value OTC portfolio.
• Lead the combined Research & Development (R&D) and analytical laboratory teams to define and deliver a portfolio of monograph/New Drug Application (NDA) products.
• Drive the product and analytical development process from ideation to commercialization, working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams.
• Partner with Value Stream Leaders to successfully scale-up and commercialize products, ensuring key design criteria are met.
• Actively manage the portfolio/projects, capturing development activities, managing risks, and driving key decisions with executive leadership.
• Optimize and manage the product development process to drive efficiency and compliance.
• Define and implement best-in-class tools, techniques, and approaches to improve technical efficiency.
• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across different product teams and functional areas.
• Provide site and company leadership by participating in key company initiatives and driving organizational objectives.

Skill Set:

• Ph.D. degree in a relevant science discipline (e.g., chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences).
• 15+ years of experience in Research & Development, with extensive experience in developing and commercializing both oral monograph and NDA drug products.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership and management experience.
• Comprehensive experience in OTC product development across 505.B.2/NDAs & monograph drugs in the US.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong sense of ownership to maximize business value.
• Proven ability to effectively engage and drive action with senior leaders internally and externally.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the company and products effectively with major CPG/pharma/retail customers.
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen to drive innovation and address challenges effectively.
• Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
