Senior Automation Specialist

Focus:
Process Automation: Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions across various processes, optimizing efficiency and productivity. Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge in process automation, including system integration and control strategies. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements in all automation initiatives. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to coordinate automation efforts and address operational challenges. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all automation projects comply with safety and environmental regulations. Budget Management: Work alongside finance teams to effectively manage automation project budgets and resource allocation. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing automation processes, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Skill Set:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering roles, with a focus on automation. Prior experience in the materials industry or related sectors is advantageous. Prior leadership experience in a supervisory capacity. Successful completion of Electrical Journeyman Training coupled with specialized training or certification from PLC or DCS system manufacturers. Proficiency in Plant Information Systems or other database storage and retrieval systems. Broad understanding of the scientific principles relevant to various processes involved in mining, mineral beneficiation, and processing, including comminution, flotation, and exothermic reactions. Proven track record of successfully leading and managing automation projects. Proficiency in engineering software and project management tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
