Lead Engineer – Waste Management and Water Systems Projects

This leading global resource organization is in search of a proficient and driven Lead Engineer to manage waste management and aquatic system initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship to our client’s team.
This Role Offers:
The possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time from anywhere in the U.S. except CA, CT, IL, KS, KY, MS, MI, NH, NY, NC, OK and SC (ADDITIONAL States may be included). The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits. Focus:
Lead and manage tailings feasibility studies and project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies. Provide expert advice in geotechnical, hydrological, and environmental aspects of tailings and water management. Coordinate resources and manage contractors to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Develop and review project scopes, evaluate proposals, and manage contracts and budgets effectively. Ensure the application of best practices in tailings and water management to maintain operational excellence and reduce risks.
Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering professional growth and technical proficiency. Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to risk reduction strategies.
Skill Set:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (3 years with a Master’s degree). Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent. Proven proficiency in at least one of these domains: waste containment structures, hydraulic barriers, or processing residue management. Proficiency in engineering software tools and MS Office and other engineering tools (CAD, analytical, mapping) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct. Specialization in Geotechnical or Water Resources Engineering. Preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Background in the extractive sector, especially in waste and aquatic resource management initiatives. Experience with cost estimating for civil projects, project scheduling and project controls. Experience in surface water hydrology, hydraulics, and groundwater hydrology in addition to geotechnical experience. Fluency in Spanish or Bahasa Indonesian languages is preferred.
