Controller

Our client, a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to fostering employee well-being and providing critical support to its community, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Focus:

• Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Manage and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and productivity.
• Coordinate and manage audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards.
• Oversee grants management activities, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant guidelines and funding requirements.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and program managers to develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and grant proposals to support organizational objectives.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
• Serve as a liaison with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and funding partners to address financial inquiries and ensure adherence to reporting requirements.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within a nonprofit organization.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Proven experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Extensive experience in grants management, including tracking, reporting, and compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record of effectively managing teams and building collaborative relationships.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
