This role is central to the organization’s respiratory care team, providing critical therapeutic and diagnostic services in both general and specialized care units. The position requires hands-on expertise in managing respiratory therapies and assessing patient conditions to ensure optimal treatment outcomes. Focus:

Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation systems, recommending adjustments as needed.

Deliver bronchial hygiene and respiratory treatments, including aerosol and therapeutic gas therapies; monitor gas levels and operate central gas systems.

Evaluate patient conditions pre- and post-treatment, recommending modifications as needed.

Apply CPAP/BiPAP and suggest adjustments based on patient responses.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation across patients and departmental records.

Assess patient oxygenation and hemodynamic conditions, perform CPR, and respond as part of the Rapid Response Team.

Conduct bedside spirometry and assess pulmonary function data.

Provide instructional support to patients, families, and students.

Conduct ECGs, perform arterial punctures, and provide support during bronchoscopy procedures.

Guide respiratory care students through hands-on learning and provide support during each stage of their clinical rotations.

Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and team audits.

Skill Set:

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with an active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license.

Demonstrated competence in critical care skills.

BLS Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification within four weeks of employment.

Strong technical skills, with the ability to customize equipment and processes based on patient needs.

Effective analytical skills to assess and adapt treatment plans.

Strong customer service skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Adaptable, with a capacity to adjust to fluctuating workloads and priorities.

ACLS certification is a plus.
