Civil Estimator

This organization is seeking a Civil Estimator to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for various civil projects and collaborating with project stakeholders to ensure the success of bidding efforts.

Focus:

• Develop detailed estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airport, dam, tunnel, and transit projects.
• Analyze and interpret contract proposals, drawings, and specifications to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
• Perform quantity take-offs for unit price and lump sum project bidding schedules, summarizing findings in an organized Excel format.
• Create comprehensive unit price estimates by establishing production crews and incorporating necessary equipment and materials using project cost software.
• Collaborate effectively with project owners, material suppliers, and subcontractors during pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations.
• Contribute to the preparation of bid and proposal packages, ensuring all bid items are accurately priced and reviewed.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant estimating and project management experience.
• At least 5 years of experience estimating for heavy civil projects, preferably involving projects valued over $100 million.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods such as design/build and CMAR is preferred.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS or similar tools is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders and facilitate teamwork.
