Our client is a leading manufacturer of building materials, known for its top-of-the-line structural products. To sustain their success, they prioritize product quality and availability. To enhance operational efficiency, they are seeking a skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join their team.
The Automation Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing existing machinery and systems while overseeing the design and implementation of electrical and automation projects. This individual will work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure all electrical operations align with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Focus:
• Monitor plant automation systems, analyze performance, and initiate actions to optimize safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with team members to gather data and pertinent information for upcoming automation projects.
• Perform custom PLC and Drive programming for Allen Bradley, SAF, and Rexroth components.
• Address safety concerns related to mill hazards, electrical issues, and programming promptly.
• Assist in the specification and integration of control devices, including PLCs, sensors, and VFDs.
• Prepare bills of material, purchase requisitions, as-built drawings, and specifications for project completion.
• Lead site employees and contractors during construction, verification, and start-up processes.
• Review project-related proposals, RFQs, and supplier bids; make recommendations to management.
• Work with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Maintain and improve production control equipment (PLCs, Drives, etc.) across the plant.
• Manage records of system software changes and communicate updates to affected employees.
Skill Set:
• 5+ years of full-time experience in a related field, with a stable career history preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for creating and modifying drawings; strong capability in reading prints and advanced computer skills.
• Expertise in PLC systems (Allen Bradley) and HMI experience (PanelView/Wonderware), along with strong knowledge of ESA Code.
• Proven commitment to promoting health and safety practices per regulatory standards and company policy.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with strong leadership and troubleshooting abilities.
