They’re looking for an Assistant Plant Manager to join their team.
The Assistant Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant’s swing shift, working closely with the Plant Manager and General Manager to ensure efficient and safe plant performance. This role requires adherence to company guidelines and industry regulations, fostering a productive and compliant work environment.

Focus:
Ensure compliance with all operational permits, coordinating efforts with city, state, and federal regulations.
Support the Plant Manager by leading staff in achieving operational goals through effective communication methods (meetings, emails, individual discussions).
Monitor and manage plant expenses, reviewing financial reports, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with Plant Manager and General Manager on significant decisions.
Assist with hiring, training, and managing plant personnel, including recommending disciplinary actions, but not making final decisions.
Ensure adherence to all company policies and standards, including safety, quality control, and regulatory guidelines (HAACP, FSMA, etc.).
Oversee the daily operations and maintain plant cleanliness, promptly addressing any production issues.
Manage maintenance schedules, working with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is in optimal condition. Major repairs will be escalated to the Plant Manager.
Supervise labor force management, including reviewing timecards, scheduling, and resolving discrepancies. Promote cross-training and professional development of staff.
Regularly analyze production reports and financial data, recommending improvements to the Plant Manager and General Manager.
Enforce safety protocols as part of the company’s internal safety program to maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain effective communication with management on raw material quality, production issues, and other plant-related concerns.
Skill Set:
High School diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years of supervisory experience.
3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting; experience in a rendering facility is advantageous.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, motors, controls, and variable frequency drives.
Ability to perform minor plumbing repairs and general maintenance.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and other computer software.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, with a second language being a plus.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be available to work night shifts.
Willing to travel occasionally (<10%).
