About the Role:
A pioneering technology organization is seeking an Advanced Autonomy Systems Engineer to develop intelligent guidance, navigation, and control systems for cutting-edge autonomous platforms. This role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of autonomous mobility in aerospace, defense, and commercial sectors. The selected candidate will join a cross-functional team of experts focused on deploying next-gen unmanned systems that push the boundaries of autonomy and mission execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Architect and implement robust algorithms for localization, mapping, trajectory planning, and obstacle avoidance.
• Design real-time control systems for multi-domain autonomous platforms including aerial and ground-based vehicles.
• Develop decision-making frameworks such as state machines, behavior trees, or AI-based logic to enable autonomous behavior.
• Conduct simulations and virtual testing to refine autonomy modules, followed by live system field evaluations.
• Integrate autonomy modules with perception systems, embedded hardware, and control interfaces for seamless deployment.
• Optimize system performance for real-time execution on resource-constrained hardware platforms.
• Collaborate across disciplines including sensor fusion, embedded engineering, and system integration to enhance overall system robustness.
• Lead iterative improvements to autonomy stacks based on test data and mission feedback.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing autonomy software or intelligent control systems.
• Expertise in programming with C++ and Python in real-time environments.
• Familiarity with middleware platforms and simulation tools (e.g., ROS/ROS2, Gazebo, CARLA, or AirSim).
• Deep understanding of navigation principles, control theory, and motion planning.
• Experience with embedded systems and resource-constrained software deployment.
Preferred Attributes:
• Experience in integrating autonomy with UAVs, UGVs, or other robotic platforms.
• Understanding of perception systems and sensor fusion (e.g., LiDAR, cameras, GPS/INS, radar).
• Exposure to government-funded R&D or defense-grade autonomy frameworks.
• Background in machine learning for adaptive control or autonomous decision-making.
• Active or obtainable security clearance is a strong plus.
