Overview:
A pioneering tech innovator at the intersection of AI and national defense is seeking an Advanced AI & Autonomy Researcher to lead cutting-edge machine learning initiatives. This position plays a pivotal role in developing AI algorithms and intelligent systems for high-stakes defense and security applications. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in AI/ML with a passion for solving real-world problems in areas such as autonomous systems, situational awareness, and mission-critical decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead applied AI/ML research addressing operational challenges in defense and national security.
• Design and prototype novel algorithms involving reinforcement learning, deep learning, federated learning, and generative models.
• Develop testing environments and simulation frameworks to validate algorithmic performance.
• Collaborate across R&D and engineering teams to deploy AI solutions into production environments.
• Present findings through white papers, internal presentations, and academic venues when appropriate.
• Continuously assess emerging technologies to align innovations with evolving mission requirements.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
• 3+ years of applied research experience in machine learning, with preference for defense or mission-critical contexts.
• Demonstrated expertise in reinforcement learning, probabilistic modeling, or deep neural networks.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Hands-on experience with simulation environments, autonomy platforms, or robotics frameworks.
• Comfortable working with limited data and within secure or classified environments.
Preferred Skills:
• Background in multi-agent learning, game-theoretic modeling, or human-AI teaming.
• Experience with autonomous systems, edge computing, or sensor fusion.
• Previous involvement in DoD, DARPA, or IC-sponsored AI initiatives.
• Eligibility for U.S. security clearance (active clearance a plus).
