Key Responsibilities

• Shepherd multi-million-dollar building-systems projects through the full life-cycle, from client discovery and conceptual design to field supervision and close-out.
• Perform detailed HVAC load calculations and system selections, creating design documents and BIM models in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Guide and mentor junior mechanical designers, assigning tasks, monitoring schedules, and managing project budgets.
• Interface with architects, contractors, and code officials to resolve technical issues, secure approvals, and ensure all work meets NYC Building Code, IMC, and IECC requirements.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and pay applications, proactively flagging scope or budget variances.
• Champion process improvements – introducing digital workflows, adopting emerging sustainability best practices, and driving quality-assurance standards.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 10+ years designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial or institutional facilities, with recent NYC project experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and industry calculation/energy-modeling software.
• Proven success managing multiple concurrent projects and leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to build trusted-advisor relationships with clients and stakeholders.
