Make Your Mark in Legacy Steel
Our client is a long-standing steel producer whose purpose-built mill has powered American industry for over 100 years. They are investing in their next century of success and need a hands-on electrician to keep the heart of the plant—vintage DC cranes, motors, and auxiliary controls—running at peak uptime. If you enjoy troubleshooting classic industrial equipment (zero PLCs) and want a predictable day shift with union stability, this role puts you in the driver’s seat of real-world manufacturing impact.
What You’ll Tackle
• Lead real-time troubleshooting and repair of DC crane power‐and-control circuits, motors, and switchgear.
• Execute preventive maintenance, emergency fixes, and component change-outs with minimal supervision.
• Install, wire, and commission motors, starters, and production equipment upgrades across the mill.
• Fabricate guards and lend a hand on hydraulic, pneumatic, and pump repairs when electrical demand is low.
• Coach junior craft workers, sharing best practices that raise overall plant reliability.
What Sets You Up for Success
• Two-year technical program or equivalent military/industrial electrical coursework.
• 3+ years maintaining or rebuilding DC-powered cranes, hoists, or heavy industrial machinery.
• Comfortable working on century-old equipment with limited automation – schematics, multimeters, and your brain are the “control system.”
• Basic welding, hydraulics, or mechanical aptitude – company will cross-train motivated candidates.
• Testing and interviews start before sunrise, aligning with plant leadership’s 4 AM kickoff.
Compensation & Schedule
• Competitive hourly compensation with structured increases at 6 and 12 months.
• Shift: Four-day, 10-hour day shift (Mon–Thu, 5 AM–7 AM start).
• Package: Full medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, paid holidays along with other benefits.
Why This Role
• Day-Shift Freedom – Perfect for night-shift electricians ready for daylight hours without weekend mandates.
• Job Security – Essential craft in a mill that’s remained profitable for a century.
• Autonomy – Small, tight-knit team where your decisions directly prevent downtime.
• Growth – Proven path to maintenance leadership for technicians who take initiative.
