Staff Accountant

Focus:
Manage general ledger accounting for restricted and unrestricted fund categories.
Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with organizational policies and GAAP.
Ensure accuracy in financial transactions including cash receipts, journal entries, and intercompany reconciliations.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures, ensuring deadlines are met.
Coordinate fund transfers, revenue postings, and reconciliations related to donor-restricted contributions.
Maintain detailed audit trails and assist in audit preparation and external reviews.
Serve as a finance liaison for cross-departmental teams and external partners.
Identify process improvement opportunities, contributing to system enhancements and workflow optimization.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
Skill Set:
Demonstrated foundation in financial reporting and accounting practices through formal training or professional experience.
At least two years of professional experience supporting core accounting functions, including transaction processing and financial recordkeeping.
Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., Banner, Blackbaud, or similar platforms).
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit, education, or fund-based accounting environments.
Exposure to donor fund tracking, scholarship fund accounting, or grant reporting.
CPA eligibility or ongoing pursuit of CPA designation a plus.
