In response to industry growth and increasing demand in the renewable energy field, they are seeking a Tax Attorney – Energy Sector. This role will be crucial in providing expert legal and tax advice on renewable energy projects and transactions.

Focus:

• Provide legal and tax advice for the financing and monetization of renewable energy assets.
• Lead tax due diligence and structuring for energy, renewables, and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee tax compliance processes, ensuring timely filing of tax returns and adhering to changing tax legislation.
• Identify and mitigate tax risks, providing strategic solutions to complex tax issues.
• Maintain relationships with developers, sponsors, investors, and key stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide more junior associates or paralegals on tax-related matters in the energy sector.
• Represent clients before regulatory bodies and negotiate with relevant stakeholders to ensure project compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Skill Set

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Membership in good standing with the State Bar.
• 3+ years of transactional tax experience.
• Strong background focusing on renewable energy transactions, including tax equity financing and M&A.
• Proficiency with tax software and, ideally, experience with financial modeling.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; superior logical reasoning, research, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy sector and a commitment to staying current in the field.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex tax laws and identify optimal solutions for clients.
• High ethical standards and understanding of the importance of confidentiality in dealing with tax-related matters.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and potentially lead a team.
