We are representing a top-performing civil and environmental engineering consultancy known for delivering complex infrastructure projects across transportation, utilities, and energy sectors. They are looking to hire a Principal Engineer – Geotechnical & Infrastructure to lead a high-impact portfolio of geotechnical engineering projects. Focus:
• Lead safety culture by modeling best practices and pre-task planning across geotechnical operations.
• Serve as the senior technical advisor and project manager for complex geotechnical investigations and designs.
• Mentor and develop junior staff, promoting leadership growth and technical advancement.
• Oversee engineering deliverables and field testing for projects involving tunnels, dams, deep foundations, retaining walls, and more.
• Guide proposal development, client relationship management, and project scoping.
• Perform technical review of geotechnical designs and analysis, including ground improvement systems, instrumentation strategies, and forensic evaluations.
• Apply risk management techniques across both conventional and alternative delivery models.
• Lead QA/QC efforts and champion continuous quality improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Represent the firm’s geotechnical practice externally, contributing to market visibility and new business growth.
Skill Set:
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience within heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Experienced in utilizing geotechnical engineering software including LPILE, SLOPE/W, APILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, and PLAXIS.
• Deep understanding of AASHTO LRFD and traditional ASD/LFD methodologies.
• Strong familiarity with DOT and FHWA regulations (FDOT experience highly preferred).
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• Active membership in relevant technical or geotechnical organizations a plus.
