Microwave/RF Technician

Our client is an expert in the telecom and wireless space. They provide a full range of wireless solutions, including DAS, security, small cell, antenna/RF systems, and more. They are hiring a Microwave Technician to assure successful wireless project completion.

The Microwave/RF Technician will perform tasks associated with installation and/or maintenance of digital communication equipment. This person will be responsible for supervising installation, troubleshooting, and maintaining microwave point-to-point links.

Focus:

• Ensure all job safety policies are adhered to at all times; including all Fall Safety procedures and 100% tie-off commitment. Conducts Job Safety Meetings daily.
• Assist the Tower Foreman in planning site activities.
• Supervise the tower crew in execution of the daily safety and work plan in keeping with supervisor direction.
• Lead work on tower ensuring that a quality installation has been performed including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load-hopping, etc.
• Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRU’s, cabling, bolting, trueing up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and compass, torquing to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc.
• Perform Waveguide, coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weatherproofing, color-coding, labeling, connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation.
• Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required.
• Assist on overall job on groundwork including all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs.
• Ensure safety and quality control requirements at sites and with crew maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
• Maintain daily paperwork and compile all site-specific closeout documentation for work effort.

Skill Set:

• 1+ years of experience in a relevant technician role.
• Must be experienced in line and antenna system installation, maintenance, and microwave path alignment.
• OSHA and climbing safety training.
• Understanding of UMTS, GSM, and LTE standards.
• Experience with the following:

• Microwave
• New site construction
• Technical proficiency in CAD, to include the ability to interpret/communicate drawings and blueprints.
