About the Role
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Medical AR/Collections Supervisor to oversee revenue cycle functions that directly impact financial performance and patient account resolution. This hybrid position is ideal for professionals with proven leadership in healthcare collections and a deep understanding of medical billing, insurance reimbursements, and regulatory compliance.
As a critical team leader, you will guide AR and collections staff, coordinate resolution strategies for outstanding claims, and monitor metrics to optimize cash flow and reduce aging. Your contributions will enhance operational efficiency and ensure financial sustainability in healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day activities of the medical AR and collections team to ensure timely and accurate claim follow-up and account resolution.
Monitor accounts receivable aging and develop targeted worklists to reduce outstanding balances and improve collection rates.
Evaluate denials and underpayments and implement strategies to maximize reimbursements from commercial and government payers.
Provide training, performance feedback, and ongoing support to collections staff to ensure compliance with the best practices and policies.
Collaborate with billing, coding, and patient access teams to resolve issues affecting claim submission and payment.
Ensure compliance with payer regulations, internal policies, and healthcare standards such as HIPAA.
Prepare and analyze AR and collections reports; present insights to leadership to support data-driven decisions.
Support the adoption of system upgrades and automation tools to improve workflow efficiency.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in medical billing and collections, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Strong knowledge of insurance billing, denial management, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare compliance requirements.
Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and revenue cycle management systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
Proven leadership and team development skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Excellent communication skills for working with staff, leadership, and external payers.
Ability to manage priorities in a hybrid work environment.
