With a focus on in-house innovation, the Director of Mechanical Design Services will lead a passionate engineering team in designing and deploying breakthrough systems that optimize comfort, efficiency, and seamless installation. Key Responsibilities
• Spearhead mechanical system development from initial ideation to comprehensive design documentation, spatial planning, and on-site implementation.
• Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary design team, including mentoring junior engineers and aligning design direction with product development goals.
• Blend technical expertise with intuitive design principles to create seamless user experiences for luxury home climate control systems.
• Drive the refinement and documentation of radiant heating and cooling systems, with a strong focus on system reliability, user experience, and installation efficiency.
• Stay current with California building codes, including Title 24 compliance, and ensure all designs exceed regulatory and performance standards.
• Collaborate closely with internal R&D, operations, and executive leadership to maintain in-house control over all intellectual property and innovation.
• Support the product vision with mechanical feasibility assessments and contribute to long-term product roadmap planning.
Required Qualifications
• Active licensing required.
• Demonstrated expertise in quantifying heating and cooling demands and designing efficient mechanical systems, preferably within bespoke residential or energy-optimized construction settings.
• Proficient in CAD software and able to effectively interpret technical drawings.
• Strong familiarity with California Title 24 requirements and energy modeling.
• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with a commitment to design excellence.
• Thrives in a dynamic, results-driven setting that values cutting-edge technology and accountability.
Preferred Experience
• Expertise in 3D modeling tools for mechanical design, including SolidWorks or similar platforms.
• Background in designing and developing mechanical systems for buildings or products.
• Visionary mindset with an eye for design aesthetics, product usability, and detail.
• Familiarity with designing embedded control systems or user-centric mechanical products is highly desirable.
